Guatemala Update

Nelson and Rosemarie Rivas have been in Guatemala for one month now. They are working very hard in two foundational areas: evangelism and discipleship. Vida Nueva Guatemala actually meets in two different places at two different times; each is a “small groups” at this time. Both groups are a result of the August evangelistic campaigns.

The photo on the left is “The Highway to El Salvador ” group. Mario Betnancort, standing on the left, is a businessman very excited about the vision of Vida Nueva Guatemala . Frank Escamilla (standing next to Mario) was recently saved and is attending with his wife Claudia (sitting on the lower left) who is not yet a believer. Frank and Claudia are so excited about Vida Nueva Guatemala that they invited their friends Otto (standing next to Frank) and Rebeca (sitting next to Claudia) Solorzano and their daughters Monica 8 and Andrea 6 who are both sitting in front of their mother. This wonderful group meets together on Sunday mornings at the Rivas' home to share a time of worship and praise, Biblical preaching, Sunday school for the children and then they all have lunch together. Their goal is to reach out to those who do not know Christ, see them saved and then raise them up in the Word of God so they can go out and reach others who do not know Christ.

The photo on the right is the “Santa Catarina Pinula” group. This group has already tripled in size since they began meeting just 3 weeks ago. They have rented a small but adequate place and currently are meeting Monday evenings from 7-9:30 PM. They are excited about the new location because it is so much more accessible and will be much easier to reach out from this “in plain sight” location. Each week someone new receives Christ as their Lord and Saviour. Several of the new believers have already begun the journey of discipleship. God is at work in the lives and hearts of the Guatemala people. It is truly exciting to be on the ground floor watching Him transform lives. Please pray for these 2 groups, that God will add to them each day those who are saved and that we will grow and glorify God in all that is said and done. Please also pray for a laptop computer and a video projector which would be so helpful to our outreach as well as the group meetings.
