What is Metro América 020?

Metro América 020 is a missionary vision that God has given to the leadership of New Life Baptist Church in San Salvador, El Salvador and Good News In Action. It is a vision based on 3 principles that Paul used during his missionary efforts in the book of Acts.

•  When Paul preached the gospel, he targeted receptive areas. When people were unreceptive, he shook the dust off of his feet and moved on. He not only shook the dust off his feet when a city was unreceptive (Athens), but he also shook the dust off his feet when a people group was unreceptive.

•  Paul not only targeted receptive areas but also targeted the major cities of his time; such as Rome, Corinth, Ephesus, etc. By starting church planting churches in the major cities, he could reach the countries faster. Of course, the goal for the city churches was to reach out to the surrounding towns.

•  Paul used teams to reach out. Churches were never started by one person, but by a whole team. The churches that he started were also led by teams with a senior pastor in charge of the team.

Each of the words in the title tells you a little about the vision:

•  America represents countries in Central and South America.

•  020 represents the area between the Equator (0 degrees latitude) and the Tropic of Cancer (22.5 degrees latitude). There are over 220 million lost people who live in this area.

•  Metro represents metropolitan areas that include more than one million people. Over 60% of the people in the Metro América 020 area live in these metropolitan areas.

The strategy for Metro América 020 involves 3 levels:

Level 1-The Supply Line

•  Forms a ministerial structure inside of the church that establishes communication and is like a supply line to the missionaries.

•  Responsible for prayer. Without God's power and direction, missions are impossible. Therefore, small groups within the church are responsible for praying for the missionaries individually.

•  Responsible for maintaining the flow of information towards the mission field and towards the church.

•  Responsible for providing vital care for the missionaries and responding in times of crisis.

•  The participants at this level must be church members, have completed or be completing Discipleship I, and be willing to give time for prayer, meetings, and ministerial responsibilities.
