Short Term Missions Trip Guidelines (Updated September 25, 2008) 1. We will need a list of all team members paired as they desire to stay in the hotel together. Please specify who is the team leader, this will be the person we will stay in communication with prior to the trip. Their names must be complete and as they appear on their passports. Please expand on the list of all team members by adding their sex, age, relationship with their roommate (we need to know if they are friends, family related, etc), include their mission experience, and any special talents that may be used on the mission field like speaking Spanish, medical, preaching, music, paint board presentations, working with youth or children. Please also include any special needs anyone may have, handicaps, or difficulties. We need this at the very latest, one month prior to the trip. 2. Every team arranges for their own transportation itinerary and cost. We will need the detailed flight information both for arrival and departure to coordinate your transportation. You will fly into El Salvador 's International Airport called Comalapa and abbreviated SAL with most airlines. Continental has two flights daily from Houston , American has two flights daily from Miami and Delta has one flight daily from Atlanta . TACA also has a number of flights from a variety of locations daily into El Salvador . 3. We need to know if you all as a group do or do not want the buffet breakfast provided by the hotel. This will be a Yes or No answer for your entire group. The breakfast is a Continental breakfast costing $10 per person per day. This breakfast includes all drinks, cereals, fruits, breads, hams and cheeses and is a very adequate breakfast. Just to give you a cost estimate regarding the hotel: http://www.radisson.com/sansalvadores The cost for a double occupancy room is $81.42 ($40.71 per occupant) per night, the cost of a triple occupancy room is $99.12 ($33.04 per occupant) per night. This price does not include the breakfast but it does include all taxes which are 18% in El Salvador. If you include the breakfast the cost of a double is $101.84 ($50.71 per occupant) and the cost of a triple is $129.12 ($43.04 per occupant). Everyone will additionally need money for the remainder of their meals and any extra costs they might run into like souvenirs, phone calls and $10 for an entry visa into El Salvador upon arrival. 4. Additionally we need for each team member to contribute $100 in U.S. CASH. This money, which will be collected during orientation, helps us to cover the cost of tracts, stickers, gas, vehicles, translators, and other materials and logistics that will be needed and used during the mission trip week. Please have each team member place their $100 CASH in an envelope marked with their name and the date of the mission trip. 5. We would also ask that each team member come supplied (for their personal use) with hand sanitizer, a flashlight, a hat, insect repellant, pain reliever, insect bite cream, Imodium in case of diarrhea, an intestinal infection antibiotic, sun block, anti allergy medication if they have allergies, and a poncho or mini umbrella (during May to October trips). It is recommended (not required) when traveling to Central America that every team member also be current on their Tetanus vaccine and have received both the Hepatitis A and B series of vaccines. We would also ask that each team member bring one 3 to 5 pound bag of their very favorite yummy individually wrapped US candy (Sam's, Costco, Wal-Mart, Target), any variety will be fine, and give that to Steve Kern during orientation with the $100. This will be used in conjunction with all ministries directed toward children and youth.
