David was born on July 11, 1983 into a Christian home and family. He attended Sunday school from the time he was a baby. He accepted Christ at the age of 7. He spent his youth between two things, his studies and his favorite sport: fencing. Gradually David felt like he was deviating from the path that God had laid out for him. The conflicts in his life were becoming greater until one day, in a state of crisis at age 17. He decided to cry out for God’s help. He remembers talking with God and asking Him to change his tempestuous life into calm. God answered his prayer and David decided from that moment forward to never turn back and to only focus his life to serve the King.
A few years later, in 2003, David met Maritza in the church where they both attended and served. Both had the desire to grow and to dedicate their lives to serving God, but decided to wait in His Perfect Plan. In 2009 they became engaged and in 2010 they married.
David and Maritza visited Vida Nueva church for the first time in one of the functions of Judgment House, an 8 scene walking play where the reality of the only two eternal destinations is portrayed. Not long after, in 2011, convinced by God that they had to grow, they decided to move their church membership and become a part of Vida Nueva.
Maritza and David fell in love with the teaching of the Word, the process of discipleship, and the communion among the brothers. Soon they began serving in Children’s Ministries. At the same time they both enrolled in the Vida Nueva Theological Seminary.
In October 2012 the pastoral team offered David the opportunity to join the church’s workforce. Right then and there David and Martiza’s life and heart’s desire to serve God full time became a reality, all in God’s perfect time.
David is a Bachelor’s Degree graduate in Chemistry and Pharmacology and is currently pursuing a Master of Divinity in the Vida Nueva Theological Seminary.
He is currently serving as the Crowne Plaza Hotel Campus Pastor as well as the Pastor over “The Other Half” (0-18 years of age).
Maritza is also pursuing a degree in the theological seminary and is a great help and support to David in all his functions. She also serves in youth ministry as well as women’s ministry and enjoys sharing her life and love for Christ with other ladies through discipleship. David and Maritza welcomed a son into their family, Joel, on March 7, 2016.
David’s Life Passage:
“But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;” Philippians 3:7-10
