Javier Girón was born on October 20, 1982 into a Catholic home. As a child he was taught about God and the Lord Jesus Christ. When he was 10 years old he clearly heard the gospel and received Jesus into his heart. However, with the temptations and trials of adolescence and the divorce of his parents, Javier chose the wrong path for 9 years. God, in His great love and mercy, always pursued him. He came to Vida Nueva San Salvador in 2002, and by the power of the Holy Spirit, he repented of all his sinful ways and gave his life fully to Jesus Christ. Soon thereafter he was baptized, began to study the Bible systematically, and serve God in the church.
In 2006, as an Industrial Engineering student and a volunteer in ministry at church, his pastors, Julio and Steve, seeing the potential in him, talked with him and offered him the opportunity to serve part time as the preteen youth pastor. That way he could continue his studies and work also in Engineering if he desired. Javier served as the preteen youth pastor at Vida Nueva for 5 years; until 2011. Javier always felt the desire to serve the Lord full time. During his time of service as the preteen youth pastor, Javier met Claudia, a precious girl, born and raised in a very committed Christian home. Claudia, born on Valentine’s Day in 1990, was a believer since age 8 and since childhood served the Lord with her family. They met because Claudia was also serving in the same preteen youth group. Over the following 2 years their relationship developed into a strong friendship and partnership in ministry; then it took a turn for something deeper. They were united by God’s Will and the desire to be used by Him in His work. They were engaged for a year and were married on January 8, 2012. During their courtship God called Javier to go to Guatemala to serve full time. So by faith he quit his part time engineering job and made all plans to go. On January 9, 2012 Javier and Claudia moved to Guatemala City to support Nelson and Rosemarie Rivas in the work of pastoring Vida Nueva Guatemala.
Today, in Vida Nueva Guatemala, Javier and Claudia are dedicated full time to the discipling of new believers, and the pastoring of the preteens and teens. They also provide support in the production of the services and the operational logistics of the church. They are also very involved in designing and carrying out strategies to reach others for Christ such as evangelistic activities, couples dinners, camps, and fellowships. Claudia also works with Rosemarie Rivas in all aspects of Children’s Ministries. In 2015 they initiated and led a brand new ministry for Vida Nueva Guatemala called “New Families” in which they were responsible for getting new families, reached through evangelism, into church and for planting new home bible studies in the neighborhoods where the new families live. From there, they will reach out and grow and multiply. In November of 2015, Javier and Claudia welcomed Aldo Javier into their home.
