MISSIONS IN EL SALVADORmissions_sv.htmlmissions_sv.htmlshapeimage_2_link_0

Lagniappe from Loyce February 8, 2009

After a very damp, cold winter in South Louisiana, I can see signs that spring might be on it’s way!  Yesterday morning, I turned the blinds in the Great Room, to enable me to see just what the weather might be for the day.  In the front yard, hundreds of robins were looking for the much needed grubs and worms of their diets.  What a wonderful event for me to witness as they chirped and chided each other for those delicious bits.  They were soon in flight but they were there long enough for me to believe I might anticipate much warmer weather.  Then I remembered that with the spring and summer, cutting grass was not far on the horizon.  I immediately remembered to thank God for His perfect timing of the seasons during the year.  What an awesome God we have, to know He cares for us on a moment by moment basis no matter which season of the year it is!

Activities:  A few things to do

I have kept myself very busy these cool days for the past 3 or 4 months.  My home church here in Hammond, has more activities and opportunities for any of us who really desire to stay busy.  With my Bible Study Class and preaching each Sunday morning; the activities of our Church Choir at 8:00 a.m. (yes, I said 8:00 a.m. believe it or not)  I have joined with another church in our area in their Senior Choir this past Christmas.  We performed in another church in the Baton Rouge area, and it was a blessing.  We have about 30 Seniors in that Choir.  I too am helping with some of the outreach activities and just being available, takes up some of my time.  I became a part of a Beth Moore Study on the book of Esther this past week and I am looking forward to this study on Tuesday evenings.  (Beth will be with us personally this coming April in the N.O. Arena so we are praying for that weekend.)   I will be helping with the lawn maintenance every four weeks as I am usually on a team of four, every 4 weeks, so that activity is on an off and on schedule.  I take part in activities with some women in our church.  I see to the usual things here at home so for this old Grandmother, she seems to be able to keep very busy.  I am thankful for every opportunity of service.

Plans for the year

Since last January of ’09, I became officially “retired” through Good News in Action.  Before Leo’s death in ’06, he and Steve made some plans for my “older years” so GNIA is now my official sponsor.  This will enable me to travel when the opportunities arise, and I will be available to do ministry and be sponsored by GNIA.  I have just spoken to Pastor Patrick Luke from the North Bridge Baptist Church in Charleston, SC about being a part of Judgment House in their church this coming fall.  I will be flying there for October 8-18.  This will  mean the JH will be held three nights, for two weekends.  I have never been to Charleston so I am looking forward to this time to once again share Kelly’s Story, “Found Faithful”.  I ask that you be in prayer for me as I anticipate God using Kelly’s story once again in bringing lost people to the Savior.  I covet your prayers even now as I ready myself for our Lord’s service this spring, with a medical mission trip to El Salvador scheduled for June and then into the coming October. ~   I have begun to get together some materials for my writing a book about Leo and his story to witness wherever he found himself.  As you know, Leo’s first love was to witness and share God’s love with a lost and dying world.  I will begin this book in March if all goes as planned. If my time is as it was last year, it will fly swiftly by, and I will find myself with much anticipation of what God has for my future!

New Personal Mailing address-

I want to let everyone know that I now have a personal P.O. Box number other than the GNIA box number that I have used for nearly 20 years.  Only ministry mail will go to the old address.  All of my personal letters will be to the new box number which is as follows:    Loyce Humphrey   PO Box 2144  Albany, LA  70711  All of your correspondence should have that address on anything you want to send to me personally. This way, my mail will not get mixed up with the GNIA mail. Plans are being made for another friend to pick up all the GNIA  mail so  I will appreciate your changing the mailing address for any of my personal mail.   Thanks.

Snow in Louisiana

I wanted to attach a picture taken on December 11, of 2008!  You will never imagine that this picture came from my front yard here in Hammond, LA.   Who would have ever believed that So. LA would have 10 to 12 inches of snow.  I believe the last time I saw snow in LA was some 26 years ago when Leo was in Seminary!   I called my sister in OK and stated that she would never imagine what was happening that day.  She said, “Are you going to have another hurricane?” and I said “of course not, it is snowing!” She was amazed!!   I just wanted to send along a picture to show you that it does actually snow in South Louisiana, even if it is every 25 years!!!
