Jose Salvador Escobar, “Chity”

Lourdes Campus Pastor

Chity Escobar graduated from high school in 1991 determined to live life to the fullest. Although he believed in God, he never imagined he would truly need Him—until a near‑drowning incident in the ocean confronted him with the reality of his spiritual condition. That same day, he surrendered his life to Jesus Christ. Only months later, he was invited to Vida Nueva’s youth group, where he began discipleship, attended retreats, evangelized, led a small group, studied in the seminary, and sensed an unmistakable call from God upon his life.

In 1992, Chity met Patty Valladares, a new believer at Vida Nueva. God used the evangelism ministry to bring them together. After seven years of dating, they were married on August 12, 2000—Chity at 27, Patty at 26. The Lord later blessed them with two children: Diego José (born June 27, 2006) and Alessandra (born August 2009).

Chity joined the Vida Nueva staff in 2003. Over the years, he has gained extensive ministry experience: serving in the Leadership Training Institute, co‑pastoring to plant Vida Nueva Lourdes west of San Salvador, directing the Vida Nueva Bible Institute, pastoring the Apopa Campus, and spending two years in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, planting Vida Nueva in that city. In November 2020, he returned to El Salvador to resume pastoring the Lourdes Campus alongside Juan Acevedo.

Chity is known for his deep love for people, his commitment to evangelism, and his faithful pastoral heart.
