Marcos Chavez, Associate Pastor for La Mascota 316 Campus and Youth Pastor over all Campuses

Marcos Chávez was born on April 19, 1994 in San Salvador. At age one, his parents divorced, fortunately, both pursued God. This led to a positive outcome in that both invested in Marcos’ spiritual growth. He grew up with his mother, attending church every Sunday. Unfortunately, this was not important to him, his priority at the time was to follow his dream of being a professional soccer player. At age 16, he suffered a fissure in his vertebrae and was forced lay soccer aside. At that same time, Marcos began participating in Good News in Action’s mission trips. God tried to use this opportunity to call Marcos unto Himself, but Marcos ignored the call. Despite Marcos’ continued pursuit of his dream to be a professional soccer player, God began to work in his heart; ministry and reaching souls caught his eye. Two years later, during a mission trip to Managua, Nicaragua, Marcos clearly heard God’s call. He spoke to his pastors Steve and Julio about this and agreed to begin studying in the seminary. Steve and Julio also gave him the opportunity to lead up a new evangelistic outreach, using soccer as a tool to reach young men for Christ. It was then that Marco realized that God had something prepared for him that was so much more satisfying than his own dream. Since 2013, Marcos has been on staff at Vida Nueva. He currently is the Youth Pastor for all campuses. Marcos married his childhood sweetheart, Natalia in January 2020. He hopes to spend the rest of his life doing ministry and making Jesus Christ known in this world.
