In November of 1992, after being completely lost, Jesus rescued Alex, thanks to the testimony, prayers, and persistence of his sister and his cousin who had already been saved months earlier through an evangelistic outreach brought to their neighborhood by Good News in Action and Vida Nueva Baptist Church in San Salvador. Alex found new life in Christ at Vida Nueva during a church service where Pastor Steve Kern had been preaching through the Book of Revelation, he doesn’t remember the message, only that he NEEDED to accept Christ. In 1993, Alex was baptized and steadily began growing in God’s Word and in service to Him, mostly among the youth.

In 1994 he led his first small group of youth, and in 1999 God called him to serve full time as a youth pastor in Vida Nueva. This same year he married Norma Camino, a member of the youth group, who had also been praying for his conversion years prior after meeting his sister and cousin who also attended Vida Nueva’s youth group. In 2002, the Lord gifted Alex and Norma with a precious little girl, Paola Mariel. Alex continued as Youth Pastor of Vida Nueva until 2003, at which time he was sent out to Lourdes, a 35-minute drive from San Salvador, to start a new church as the Pastor. The Hernandez Family and the Escobar family were a team as they planted Vida Nueva Lourdes. Starting a new church from zero was very hard work, yet also a great blessing as people came to know Christ, joined the church, and began to grow. Alex continued as the Pastor for Vida Nueva Lourdes until 2012, at which time he rejoined the staff of Vida Nueva Miralvalle as the Campus Pastor there. Later, in 2013 the Praise and Worship Pastor position was added to his plate. In September 2014, Alex and Norma were sent to Bogota Colombia to plant a Vida Nueva church in that capital city. On September 4th, 2022, Alex officially received the Senior pastor position of Vida Nueva Bogota.
