Jose Valter was born in San Salvador into a catholic home on July 28, 1975. When he was 18, his childhood friend, Alex Hernandez (now pastor in Vida Nueva Bogota), invited him to Vida Nueva San Salvador. He understood the gospel, repented from his sin, and gave his life to Christ in July of 1994. Jose began to study the Bible and developed a burden for sharing the gospel with those closest to him, especially his girlfriend Pei, and his brothers and parents. Pei heard and understood the gospel, received Jesus into her heart and was baptized. Quickly the gospel spread throughout Jose and Pei’s entire families.
Soon, Jose joined the youth group and started serving in evangelism, discipleship, praise, and began taking seminary classes. He had the privilege of knowing Leo Humphrey personally and actively participated in the evangelistic outreaches throughout El Salvador. Leo, as well as Julio and Steve, all had a strong influence in his life.
After 6 years of dating, Jose and Pei were married on April 10, 1999, and since, the Lord has blessed them with two children, Maria Jose (August 4, 2001) and Daniel (April 26, 2006). Professionally, Jose is a Financial Administrator with additional degrees in Computers and English. He has worked for a variety of International organizations throughout Latin America, and most recently for the United Nations (2007-2017).
Jose and his wife have been a part of Vida Nueva since their youth and have served together in ministries such as married couples, discipleship and counseling. Jose was a Deacon for 8 years and Pei has served also in Women’s ministries and in Prayer.
In April of 2017, the Valter family was invited to be a part of the first evangelistic outreach to San Pedro Sula, Honduras with Good News in Action. It was a very special time for the family, and from that moment on, God’s Hand and the call to Honduras were very evident to all 4 members of the family. In late January 2018 they moved to San Pedro Sula to plant a Vida Nueva Church.
